There's just something I love about TEF deer - those odd and beautiful faces make me happy, and you always capture them marvelously.

The Endless Forest is a kind of interactive screen saver in which you play as a stag in the forest. Lina Kusaite, the character designer for the game, was asked to create the stag characters and returned a design with the human face. [link]
My personal interpretation is that the human face represents the human player who controls the deer in the forest. Rather than it being an experience of thinking oneself as a true deer with an animal's mind, in The Endless Forest you are a human in stag's clothing meeting and interacting with others also in masquerade.
But! This is just my interpretation and everyone plays in their own way.
